First Place for Hilton & Moss at Donington Equipe 2025
On Sunday 6th July, we took to the track at Donington Park for the latest round of the Equipe Classic Racing series, with our Pre-’63 Jaguar E-type in the fiercely competitive Equipe Libre grid.
It was a particularly challenging start to the day, with heavy rain making for a very wet and unpredictable qualifying session. Grip was limited and visibility was far from ideal, but William and Tim managed to put in a solid performance behind the wheel, securing a P3 starting position in our class for the main race.
The Equipe Libre race was set for 40 minutes, and we approached it with our usual team strategy: William took the start, navigating the opening laps with skill and composure before handing over to Tim at the halfway mark. The field was tight and highly competitive throughout, but the E-type held its own, delivering consistent lap times and impressive pace even as the conditions evolved.
After a hard-fought battle and excellent driving from both William and Tim, we were incredibly proud to come away with a first-place finish in class. It was a testament not only to the talent of our drivers but also to the preparation and reliability of the car.
While the E-type ran well overall, we did experience some minor power issues during the race, nothing race-ending, but certainly something we’ll be investigating and resolving in the Hilton & Moss Motorsports Shop ahead of our next outing at the Silverstone Festival.
A big thank you, as always, to the fantastic team at Equipe Classic Racing for putting on another brilliant event, and to all our supporters who make these weekends so special. We’re already looking forward to hitting the track again very soon.
