Hilton & Moss Debuts Beautifully Restored Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed
The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed provided the perfect stage for Hilton & Moss to unveil one of our most significant recent restoration projects, a matching numbers Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster presented on the prestigious Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn.
Finished in its factory correct colour combination of DB166 Blue Grey over a black leather interior, this exceptional 300SL Roadster represented the culmination of countless hours of skilled craftsmanship by the Hilton & Moss restoration team. Displayed amongst some of the world's most celebrated and historically significant motor cars, the Roadster attracted considerable admiration throughout the four-day event, with visitors drawn to its elegant specification and exceptional attention to detail.
Prior to its debut at Goodwood, the 300SL Roadster had undergone a comprehensive full body restoration at our Hertfordshire workshops. Every stage of the project was completed to the exacting standards for which Hilton & Moss has become renowned, with originality and authenticity remaining at the forefront throughout.
The body was painstakingly restored before being refinished in its original DB166 Blue Grey, a sophisticated and understated colour that perfectly complements the timeless lines of the W198 Roadster. Inside, the black leather interior provides a striking contrast while remaining faithful to the car's original factory specification, creating an elegant and period-correct finish throughout.
As a matching numbers example, preserving the car's authenticity was paramount. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure the finished restoration reflected exactly how the car would have left Stuttgart, while meeting the concours-level standards expected of one of Mercedes-Benz's most iconic models.
The Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn remains one of the highlights of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, bringing together some of the finest restored, preserved and historically significant automobiles from around the world. To present this 300SL Roadster within such distinguished company was a proud moment for the entire Hilton & Moss team.
