Hilton and Moss are pleased to present this almost unrepeatable Jaguar XJR-S Convertible. Quite possibly the ultimate drivers XJS, given that it is one of the only examples ever to have a manual gearbox mated to the iconic 6.0 Jaguar V12 engine. The XJR-S Convertible in itself is a very rare car with only 50 examples ever being produced, all of which were exclusively for the US market, and all built as automatic from factory. Of the 50, only 27 where produced in the highly sought after Jet Black paint.

The first UK owner of this car was very keen to have the ultimate open topped Jaguar for enjoyment in the UK and wanted to avoid all the inherent rust issues that can come from a UK car that has seen many wet and salty roads in its lifetime. To that end he very sensibly sourced this car from the hot, sunny climate of California and had the car personally imported back to the United Kingdom.

Once in the UK the car was sent away to Martin Pike at Classic Engineering where it was converted to right-hand drive and fitted with a manual gearbox in 2015. The car was fitted with the world renowned Tremec TK0500 gearbox, rated to 500lb/ft torque, as used by many companies to this day. The car also had the brakes fully rebuilt in 2019. The car has been used sparingly since import, and lovingly stored and maintained in the UK for the last ten years, since the conversion took place, and the car drives superbly to this day.

The Hilton & Moss team have utilised our in-house Jaguar expertise to inspect the car and are confident that the work has been done to a very high standard. Having started off life in a hot and sunny climate it is not surprising to note that the car remains a supremely rust-free example, with no signs of previous repair. The Jet Black paint has retained its lustre and really suits the menacing look of the car especially with the colour coded twin headlights.

The black interior has also aged well along with the folding canvas roof all of which remain in exceptionally good condition and appears to be the factory original trim.
